It illustrates the three main characters in the film, Roberta, Phyllis and Peter, played respectively by Jenny Agutter, Sally Thomsett and Gary Warren. In the foreground is one of the locomotives used in the film, GWR pannier tank No 5775 and below is a depiction of Phyllis waving her red petticoat to stop the train. Below is text listing the cast and giving details of the writer, director, Lionel Jeffries, producer and the distribution company, Anglo-EMI. On the reverse, stamped in ink are the words “The RAILWAY CHILDREN”, “PARKFILM S.A., 28 Confédération, 1204 Geneve”, the number 22339 and in ink, underlined in pink pencil, “3 SH.OR”.
